UTL, through FMV, attributes the Philosophy Doctor Degree to candidates that, after a period of advanced studies, demonstrate their capacity to perform original research and write them as a thesis debating their ideas in a critical way, within the areas of knowledge of Veterinary Sciences. This course presents 5 areas, namely: Clinics, Animal Health, Animal Production, Food Safety and Biological and Biomedical Sciences
The PhD course has a curricular component with the following disciplines: Epistemology, Statistics in Biological Sciences, Experimental Design, Animal Experimentation and other optional disciplines. Attendance to Research Seminars is also compulsory. PhD dissertation is based on fundamental or applied research work and candidates must show their ability to develop and report original work including a critical debate on their area of knowledge.
