Fibrous osteodystrophy and rachitism. Note the irregularity of the cartilage in the endochondral ossification zone. Hypertrophic cartilage cells can be seen, arranged in irregularly thick strands that sometimes ramify or form plaques that plunge towards the medullary cavity. Calcified bone is reduced to rare rather thin areas in the cortex.
