Master in Animal Production

Organisation

The overall objective of the Master’s Degree in Zootechnical Engineering / Animal Production is to provide in-depth technical and scientific training in the field of animal production, guided by a commitment to addressing the underlying concerns regarding food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection.

The Master’s in Zootechnical Engineering / Animal Production also has the following specific objectives:

To collect and interpret the main production and reproductive indicators.
To select and apply the production techniques appropriate to each species and production system.
To define the structure of the production chain, distinguish between the types of products obtained and identify the factors that determine their characteristics.
To design, manage and evaluate animal production systems.
To assess the nutritional requirements of animals, apply feeding principles and techniques, and draw up and manage feeding plans for animal herds.
To design, manage and evaluate programmes for the conservation and improvement of the genetic heritage of animal populations.
To select and apply technological processing techniques for products of animal origin.

Admission

All graduates of the 1st cycle in Zootechnical Engineering are guaranteed direct entry to the 2nd cycle Master’s degree programme in Zootechnical Engineering/Animal Production. Holders of a bachelor’s degree, or a legally equivalent qualification, obtained at other higher education institutions in fields relevant to the Master’s programme may also apply for this Master’s programme; Holders of a foreign higher education qualification awarded following a first-cycle degree programme in the areas covered by the Master’s programme, organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State participating in that Process; Holders of a foreign higher education qualification recognised by the ISA Scientific Council as meeting the objectives of a bachelor’s degree; Holders of an academic, scientific or professional background recognised by the ISA Scientific Council as demonstrating the ability to undertake the programme of study.
