Department of Clinics

OBJECTIVES

The main objective is the graduate and postgraduate training in the areas of Clinic and ensure the promotion and coordination of teaching, research and provision of specialized services, as well as the diffusion of knowledge in the Clinics area​​.

STRUCTURE

The departmental structure comprises a Department Council, that integrates all PhD teachers and researchers, which elect the President and the Study Coordinator of the scientific area in each quadriennium. The President appoint an Executive Committee to assist him in the exercise of his functions and powers.

ACTIVITIES

The DC works in three broad areas: teaching, research and clinical service.
In the area of ​​education, is currently responsible for the teaching of curricular units of the Integrated Masters in Veterinary Medicine, in the propaedeutic and clinical cycles. Coordination with the School Hospital takes place through the Hospital Council, which includes the President of the Clinic Department.
The DC actively participates in the mentoring and orientation of trainee students of the Integrated Masters in Veterinary Medicine of FMV / ULisboa and other institutions of Higher Education and Research at home and abroad.
With regard to post-graduate training, the DC professors are involved in the orientation of several Masters and PhD students, and also collaborate with the following masters: Master in Animal Production (ISA / FMV) and Master in Food Safety.
In the area of ​​research, the DC has been characterized by a large proliferation of research projects, both vertically (from the basic sciences to the application sciences) and horizontally (internal projects supported by CIISA to international financing projects).
The clinical service is developed by the various sectors guaranteeing support to the School Hospital in its various sub-units, as well as to all users who use these services.
The Clinic Department encompasses several areas of interest / expertise to which its members are attached.
